State Farm is looking to hire a Junior Level Data analyst who will be part of the Metrics, Data Aggregation and Analytics (MDAA) team focused on building reports, dashboards and analytical solutions for IT Risk and Compliance function as well as at the enterprise level. In addition to providing scheduled reports, the MDAA team is the point-of-contact for ad hoc and on-demand report service requests from consumers throughout the enterprise.

A Day in the life of Data Analyst:

  • The data analyst will work with team in agile manner completing work in 2 weeks sprints.
  • Participating in agile ceremonies including PI planning, backlog grooming, sprint planning meeting, retrospective and daily stand up.
  • Developing solutions and collaborating with product owner and other team members. Other responsibilities include unit testing, system testing, user-acceptance testing and production migration.
  • Influencing and providing direction on data practices and the data infrastructure needed to support data services and automation.
  • Leading and collaborating with developers in daily code review meeting to discuss recent code changes.
  • Collaborating with State Farm internal customers and data source teams (ITADA, HPAM, Service Now, Archer, etc.) for his/her assignments.
  • Developing visualization to meet business needs – Dynamic slice and dice of data; advanced modular design with multi-tier architecture, leveraging code reusability.
  • Following team templates on solution development, testing and customer communication.
  • Qualifications

    Required Skills:

    Technical background must include but not be limited to:

  • Qlik tools, SQL, Python, JavaScript, JSON etc.
  • Technical knowledge of data discipline including data design, data transformation, data manipulation, data visualization, and data analytics.
  • Deep understanding of data and analytics tools, practices, applications, programming languages and environments.
  • Translates functional and technical requirements into detailed designs based on architectural direction that has been set.
  • Data design, data cleansing, data manipulation and aggregation of data from multiple sources to develop solutions that improve overall quality of data. Provide quality assurance of imported data, working with source data providers if necessary.
  • White boarding/brain storming ideas for the following: designing extract scripts, designing data models and creating front end mock ups for building new dashboards and analytical solutions to meet State Farm internal customer(s) needs.
  • Enables solution modernization activities through design and development-related work and architectural engagement that can be understood, tested, or modified by any other data analyst.
  • Provides highest level of support for problem and issue resolution and provides technical consultation and direction to business and product team members.
  • Strong SQL experience especially data manipulation/transformation for data visualization and analytical solutions to create compelling visuals.
  • Experience in API connection techniques to SF internal/external data sources.
  • Ability to test peer’s code to ensure product quality and drives UAT with customers for the implemented changes.
  • Mentoring team members in developing reports and dashboards.
  • Preferred skills:

  • Experience in Analytical/statistical tools and predictive analytics.
  • Conducts research to integrate industry best practices and data trends into improving team processes and solutions.
  • Experience with Key Performance Indicators (KPI), Key Risk Indicators or other metric development.
  • Additional info needed:

  • AWS certification is a plus
  • Education in statistics is a plus
  • Governance, Risk and compliance knowledge is a plus
  • Software/Programming knowledge is a plus
  • Office Location: Corporate HQ in Bloomington, IL, OR State Farm Hubs: Richardson, TX; Dunwoody, GA; Phoenix AZ.
