GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

The Data Engineer will support a growing analytics team to service both an operational modernization program and the client’ s strategy to leverage data to improve member health outcomes. The successful candidate will deeply understand the needs of the organization and determine how to best integrate + translate + model transactional data, as well as maintain + improve the health of our existing data warehouse objects. The ideal candidate will be technically comfortable with shifting requirements, possess a curious and passionate analytical mindset, and be able to work with analysts and business leaders to assist in the creation of analytical models. The successful candidate is entrepreneurial at heart and open to building an entirely new set of capabilities for the organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Constantly develop a deeper understanding of available data
• Work to understand multiple operational departments and how data is captured and used within the organization, as well as work toward supporting the organization’ s expansion into population health and fraud/abuse analytics
• Model, build, maintain, and support custom analytics pipelines • Organize, optimize, and expand upon existing ETL structure
• Model, build, manage, and optimize an analytics data warehouse that will enable the analytics team to quickly provision reports for business users
• Provide recommendations on physical structure, query optimization and other performance techniques to ensure optimal performance of analytic dashboards and reports
• Provide recommendations to support a self-service strategy and additional tooling to advance analytics delivery capabilities for business users

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong understanding of SQL with the ability to understand complex queries and to write high quality, maintainable and reusable code
• Experience with dimensional modeling
• Experience with Amazon Redshift, MPP Databases or other cloud warehouses
• Ability to thrive in a project-based environment with evolving requirements
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, aggregate, analyze, and wrangle significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
