MBN are exclusively partnering with one of Scotland's most revered academic institutions to help them appoint a Lead Data Scientist. The University is currently undergoing a significant transformation project to increase its academic and physical capacity.
This role will enable you to play a significant role in shaping and increasing future opportunities for students who want to study and develop progressive careers in Scotland contributing to greater growth in the local economy.
What you will be doing:
Interact with stakeholders across the University to understand the business problems and opportunities and translate them into analytical solutions, initially focused on the design and delivery of a complex analytical model to predict patterns of student choice and optimise our estates and workforce
Develop predictive models using relevant data from multiple sources, which improve insight and support insight-driven decision-making
Develop and enhance datasets to support the development of analytical insight delivery, working with existing technologies and identifying new and relevant technologies as well as new techniques
Collaborate effectively with central and local analytics colleagues, engaging in frequent knowledge sharing, mentoring and building a sense of team spirit
Provide thought leadership and technical expertise to the team, bringing new ideas from academia and industry to the wider organisation Key Skills & Experience Required
An MSC or PhD (preferably) in Mathematics, Statistics, Computing Science, Physics, or a similarly quantitative field
Strong programming skills in either Python or R. Experience with SQL & Data Visualisation skills also highly desirable
Experience of working on big data problems, whether in industry or academia, and in creating statistical models, Artificial Intelligence or Machine Learning algorithms to predict behaviours in the data.
Experience in creating and using statistical models, for example; cluster analysis, decision trees, regression, propensity modelling, Bayesian, NLP and AI.To be part of this exciting project, please send across your CV or press apply now
