Research Engineer
Salary: Circa £50,000 dependent on skills & experience + competitive benefits package, including a 10% non-contributory pension scheme

Here at Thatcham Research we are looking for a technically minded individual to join our engineering team on a full time, permanent basis. In this influential and exciting role, you will contribute to the development and delivery of research and testing, enforcing our vision of ‘safer cars, fewer crashes’.
As a Research Engineer your key responsibilities will involve:
* Planning, managing and delivering research projects across a wide variety of technologies
* Supporting the development and maintenance of a process centric, projects driven approach to Engineering Research
* Planning, delivering and presenting research testing, analysis and reporting
* Supporting the development and continual improvement of the tools used to robustly govern the quality of research, both in approach and output
* Ensure that the financial requirements and developments within research projects are captured and communicated in a clear and timely fashion.
* Actively engage in the directional shift to a data driven business by tying research to data and analytics
As a Research Engineer your skills and experience will include:
* Degree level qualification in a relevant discipline such as Engineering, Science, Mechanical, Electrics, Electrical, Embedded Systems etc.
* Data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to take information from various sources such as raw test data and mathematical analyses and use it to answer relevant research questions with an awareness of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) technologies
* Effective and engaging presentation and dissemination of engineering and research outputs, acknowledging the varying technical and political context required in each situation
* Experiencing in leading and delivering multi-disciplinary, complex, engineering or research projects, utilising the most relevant technologies and methods
* Management of project and financial planning, with responsibility for leading and directing other professional staff
* Demonstrable experience of both waterfall and agile methodologies and tools – Project Management Institute (PMI) certification would be advantageous
