CHENEGA ENTERPRISE SYSTEMS AND SOLUTIONS, LLC Company Job Title: Scientific Data Analyst I Chenega Job Title: Scientific Data Analyst I Clearance: Background Check Location: Atlanta, Georgia Reports To: Program Manager FLSA Status: Exempt, Full Time Prepared Date: 8/11/2020 Approved Date: 8/11/2020 Summary: Chenega is seeking to hire an experienced Scientific Data Analyst I to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP) Prevention and Response Branch (PRB). This person will provide NHSN Dialysis Event Prevention and Surveillance Support by conducting user outreach and education and providing consultation and technical assistance. The Scientific Data Analyst I will trouble shoot NHSN system issues and work to enhance usability while writing and reviewing content for the CDC Dialysis Safety webpage. Duties and Responsibilities: * Prepare responses to NHSN users who request technical expertise support in the function and use of the NHSN Dialysis Event module including thorough understanding of the application from a user perspective. * Conduct user outreach and education and provide consultation and technical assistance to dialysis provider groups, quality improvement organizations, and health departments in order to support their healthcare associated infection (HAI) prevention, surveillance, and response activities, and to meet NHSN data quality needs. * Troubleshoot NHSN system issues and create and apply modifications to improve data quality and other system attributes and track these modifications. * Update surveillance forms, instructions, and protocols and make improvement recommendations. * Consider NHSN data availability and create new NHSN data validation projects to evaluate and improve quality. * Work with Division SMEs to identify and address opportunities to enhance usability of NHSN surveillance data for prevention efforts. * Manage reports, data file exchanges and file exchange agreements between CDC and partner organizations * Review CMS documents and user inquiries and create draft responses related to NHSN and CMS quality incentive programs. * Handle inquiries from existing and prospective NHSN Dialysis Event module users, assist facilities with NHSN enrollment, and provide user support regarding procedures for correctly applying CDC HAI definitions and criteria and data entry. Expected volume of inquiries is 212 per month (range 122-415). * Identify user/system issues requiring system modifications. Contribute to the development and prioritization of NHSN system modifications to improve data quality and other system attributes and track these modifications. * Develop NHSN modules and mechanisms for electronic reporting to NHSN. * Communicate with users and provides technical expertise to improve user interface and analytic and group user functions. * Prepare and present educational trainings (20-30 annually) about NHSN to professional organizations and governmental bodies at national, state and local levels. * Write and review new training/educational documents and outreach messages. Ensure consistency of the documents/messages with CDC and other related organizations/governmental bodies. * Create prevention materials and communications for CDC dialysis HAI subject matter experts and members of the CDC Making Dialysis Safer for Patients Coalition. * Provide meeting support assistance including contributing to the development of technical content, agenda setting, and material development related to NHSN, the Coalition, and Dialysis safety infection prevention efforts. * Promote CDC-recommended HAI prevention strategies with partners. * Write/review content for the CDC Dialysis Safety webpage. Ensure consistency of the documents/messages with CDC and other related organizations/governmental bodies. * Perform data management and cleaning, including analyses to assess data quality. * Perform analyses of National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) data, including for CMS quality incentive program, and create reports to help users understand their data and describe infection control practices and policies among dialysis centers. * Recommend pathways for data validation efforts for the ESRD Network. * Develop and promote CDC resources related to infection prevention and surveillance for the Dialysis setting and other areas of infection prevention need. * Review and develop website materials and other communications related to infection prevention, surveillance, and response, ensuring consistency of the documents/messages with other CDC tools * Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.) * Two (2) to Four (4) or more years of relevant, direct comparable or similar work experience * Completed Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience to substitute. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Professional working knowledge within SharePoint * Professional interpersonal and computer skills, to include but not limited to, skills in operating Microsoft Office software, with emphasis on Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook as well as SharePoint. * Skills in managing and prioritizing multiple assignments with strict deadlines and ability to coordinate efforts among many offices. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written). * Expertise to prepare and present information/data via oral briefing(s) and/or by written reports Physical Demands: (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
