About the teamZillow is looking for an outstanding Data Scientist to join our Zillow Offers team. Zillow is on a mission to give consumers greater certainty and control when selling their home. Using our unparalleled data, you will help us build a world-class platform for real estate marketplace optimization. In the Zillow Offers product, Zillow buys homes directly from interested homeowners, thereby reducing the stress, effort, and time frame to sell a home. Instead, we take this task upon ourselves by quickly preparing homes for market and re-selling them. As a Data Scientist on the Zillow Offers team, you will help improve our ability to accurately value homes thereby creating fairer offers for sellers and enabling us to lower the costs of the business. You will help us personalize and optimize the consumer experience for home sellers seeking a Zillow Offer. You will help us understand what’s working well, and where we need to improve.About the roleOnce you’re here, you’ll work to make meaningful, strategic decisions that influence the direction of the company. More specifically, you will:* Dive into Zillow’s internal and third party data (think Hive, Presto, Python, R, Mode Analytics, Tableau) to make strategic recommendations to improve home valuation accuracy.* Lead analytical efforts to develop scalable and methodologically rigorous approaches to performance measurement.* Tell stories that describe analytical results and insights in meetings of all sizes with diverse audiences.* Opportunity size and prioritize work in different areas to improve valuation accuracy, and the Zillow Offers consumer experience.Who you areYou will not shy away from complexity or uncertainty. You will develop a deep understanding of our mission, business models, and consumers. We want you to use that intuition you’ve developed (both in business and real life) to find opportunities for growth and to cultivate insights from our massive data sets. We expect you to have:* A degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Quantitative Sociology, Economics, Computer Science or related STEM discipline or equivalent demonstrated experience. Masters or PhD is well regarded but not required.* 5+ years of work experience involving quantitative data analysis and complex problem solving.* Complete command of SQL, and either Python or R, along with some experience with Tableau, Mode, or other visualization software.* Experience with ETL pipelines, scheduling and productionalizing (e.g., Spark, Airflow) a plus.* Strong written, verbal, and graphic communication skills to concisely communicate in a way that provides context, offers insights, and minimizes misinterpretation.* The skills to work across multiple teams and push business partners to focus on realistic goals and projects.Get to know usZillow Group houses the largest portfolio of real estate brands on mobile and the web.
