These applications and solutions deliver enterprise data management, data analytics, modeling and simulation, and technology assessment capabilities that are used to create products that offer actionable information in support of warfighters and decision makers.Senior Geospatial Data EngineerWhat You’ll Do:* Act as top technical authority supporting geospatial analysts and Government customers.* Work in a collaborative environment to extract and/or acquire geospatial information, derivative information and multi-INT data for analysis and visualization.* Use a variety of state-of-the-art GIS, open source and cloud-based technologies to solve data analysis problems for Government customers.* Create, update, manage, and assess geospatial information system databases and products.* Document research through technical reports, briefings and papers.* Work in highly complex technical areas where ingenuity and creativity are required to provide solutions to major design problems.* Conduct analytic studies and/or scientific studies in a data-driven approach.* Perform conceptual, developmental and planning functions for major programs.* Lead and coordinate the installation, integration, assembly, modification, monitoring, operation, testing, and servicing of systems at company and client sites.* Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements; direct on-site customer interface for system installation, integration, testing, survey, fabrication, and other engineering tasks as required.* Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.* Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the SBU/SSU and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.* Perform other duties as necessary.What You’ll Need:* BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.* Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of related experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.* Manage geospatial data formats, conduct geospatial data transformations, and assess data quality* Strong background in Relational Database Management System (RDMS), NoSQL, Postgres SQL, and PostGIS concepts, capabilities, and workflows.* Experience deploying and managing open source spatial data web servers. Preferred experience in GeoServer, MapServer, TileserverGL, or similar OGC compliant web services.* Ability to work efficiently in Linux shell environments and GUI environments to manage data and deploy workflows.* Development of customized code, scripts, modules, macro procedures, or libraries to implement specialized spatial analysis and database functions preferred.* Prior AWS development or DevOps experience preferred.* Prior Elasticsearch experience preferred.* Integration and tailoring of geospatial Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software applications; specialized software development and maintenance; integration of related specialized hardware; engineering studies to identify and remedy geodata processing bottlenecks preferred.* Experience working with and developing geospatial information systems (GIS) to include open-source and proprietary geospatial applications. These may include, but are not limited to: ArcGIS, GDAL, GRASS, GeoPandas, Rasterio.* Facilitate IC and DoD activities that support the exploration and introduction of future concepts to demonstrate functions that have the potential to optimize intelligence integration and information sharing.Working Conditions:* Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or clean room, outdoors or remote research environment.* May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.* May access other facilities in various weather conditions.* Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.Future Clearance Required:A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
