Job Summary
Emerging Tech (ET) is seeking aData Scientist II to support the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) Federal Electronic Health Record Modernization (FEHRM) office in the development of a variety of data visualizations/dashboards. Topics covered may include the status of the deployment and the operational status of the system. This remote position is seeking an applicant with great aptitude, a professional attitude, a fantastic work ethic, and in-depth technical knowledge.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Work in an integrated team environment.
- Collect and normalize data through interactions with stakeholders.
- Prepare dashboards, largely in PowerBI, and share these with teammates and government staff
- Collect feedback and improve dashboards.
- Apply more advanced dashboard development approaches – such as to automate the ingestion of data – but also apply more basic approaches when preferred and appropriate
- Possesses knowledge of appropriate data sources to address the specific requirements of projects for monitoring, characterization, analysis, and modeling
- Performs scientific research, scientific writing and editing, including the writing and editing of project products to established government standards for the targeted science and lay audiences, proofreading of draft and final documents
Qualifications And Skills
- 4+ years of professional work experience
- Master's degree in Healthcare, Science, Computer Engineering or related scientific, technical, or clinical discipline is required, or an additional 8 years of experience may be substituted for degree requirements
- Works independently
- Attends meetings and workshops to present on project work, participate in discussions
- VA experience, particularly in EHRM or related healthcare IT initiatives, is highly preferred
- Experience in Federal contracting
- Experience with DOD or VA electronic health record modernization initiatives around Power BI dashboarding and Reporting
- Experience working with Department of Veterans' Corporate Data Warehouse (CDW) data, including SQL queries
