As a
Perception and Computer Vision Engineer at Futronics Corp, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing advanced perception algorithms that enable our robotic systems to understand and interact with their environment and humans. You will work on a range of challenges, including object detection, recognition, intention estimation, tracking, semantic segmentation, relational mapping, etc., using state-of-the-art computer vision techniques and machine learning methods.

Essential Responsibilities: - Define and execute both the short-term and long-term engineering and R&D plans of perception and CV, to support current and next-generation product development and frontier research in Futronics.
- Collaborate with local and global business, product, and R&D teams to define requirements for our new robot product's perception and computer vision functionalities in the domains of object segmentation, classification, pose estimation, scene understanding, human tracking, facial expression recognition, etc. Convert the designs into technical development requirements.
- Execute hands-on work. Create and implement critical and innovative real-time software components which will be essential for autonomous and intelligent robotic systems.
- Work on semantic segmentation and scene understanding to improve the robot's ability to interact with its environment.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
- Conduct simulations, modeling, and testing to validate manipulation algorithms and control systems.
- Optimize perception algorithms for performance and accuracy on various hardware platforms.
- Track the state-of-the-art technology and conduct frontier fundamental and applied R&D.
- Attend international conferences and forums to present our work, publish research articles, and file patent applications.
- Travel domestically and internationally for internal meetings, external technical discussions, conferences, and partner engagements.
- Other duties may be required from time to time.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields. Ph.D. preferred.
- Experience in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Pattern Recognition, and related fields with experience in creating perception and CV systems.
- Strong experience in developing and implementing computer vision algorithms using frameworks such as OpenCV, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Proficiency in machine learning techniques, particularly in the context of computer vision applications.
- Solid understanding of sensor technologies, including cameras and depth sensors, and their integration into robotic systems.
- Experience in software system architecture, design, and development.
- Proficient in C++ and Python. Ability to write clean and efficient code.
- In-depth expertise in technical fields relevant to perception and CV with both system-level thinking and algorithmic-level development.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Self-motivated and passionate about robotics and AI.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Willing to work at different business locations when necessary.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of experience in practical industrial applications.
- 3 or more years of experience in building service robotic systems with perception and CV technology.
- Familiar with building embedded robotic platforms and implementing critical algorithms on embedded platforms. Familiarity with real-time processing techniques and optimization for embedded systems.
- Experience with 3D perception, including point cloud processing and depth estimation.
- Background in human-robot interaction (HRI) and context-aware systems.
- A track record of publications or patents in the field of computer vision and perception.
- Customer engagement with solid strategic thinking skills, business development, and excellent execution to meet business requirements and deadlines.
- Strong connection with global technical leaders and academic researchers.
