About the Role: We're seeking a Machine Learning Engineer to develop and deploy innovative ML solutions that power our insurance underwriting platform. You'll work at the intersection of machine learning and software engineering, turning research ideas into production-ready systems that drive automated underwriting decisions and risk assessment.
Required:
- 4+ years of experience building and deploying ML systems in production
- Strong Python programming skills with expertise in ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow)
- Experience with probabilistic modeling and Bayesian inference
- Proven track record of implementing and optimizing ML models
- Strong background in model interpretation and explainability techniques
- Experience with NLP and document understanding systems
- Expertise in ML system design and model architecture
- Proficiency in writing production-quality, tested code
- Experience with ML experimentation tools (e.g., MLflow, W&B)
- Strong understanding of ML testing and validation methodologies
- Background in statistical modeling and causal inference
- Experience with model monitoring and performance analysis
Preferred:
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
- Published work in ML/AI conferences or journals
- Experience with reinforcement learning or active learning systems
- Knowledge of insurance or financial services domain
- Background in risk modeling or actuarial science
- Experience with graph neural networks
- Expertise in automated ML systems
- Background in distributed ML training systems
- Experience with ML systems for tabular data
- Understanding of SOC II compliance requirements
What You'll Do:
- Design and implement ML models for insurance risk assessment and pricing
- Develop automated underwriting systems using state-of-the-art ML techniques
- Build interpretable models that provide clear reasoning for decisions
- Create document understanding systems for insurance policy analysis
- Implement robust model validation and testing frameworks
- Collaborate with data scientists to productionize research models
- Work with data engineers to design efficient feature engineering pipelines
- Develop model monitoring and performance analysis systems
- Research and implement novel ML architectures for insurance use cases
- Write clean, tested, and documented code for production systems
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
