The mission of the Data Platform org is to provide our ML engineers and data users a secured, reliable, and easy-to-use infrastructure for ingesting, storing, processing, and interacting with data and ultimately enable teams across Apple on building their data-intensive and AI/ML applications. You will work with many cross-functional teams and lead the planning, execution, and success of technical projects with the ultimate purpose of improving data and ML user experience for Data Platform serving across Apple. You will be responsible for driving the overall user experience for Apple Data Platform, engaging with stakeholders to ensure proper UX design, and managing teams of engineers that design and implement user interfaces for secured large scale data services to users across Apple. We embrace the use of open source technologies including Spark, Flink, Trino, and Iceberg for data processing. You will be leading a team of high profile engineers and managers on enabling all Data Platform features with great user experience at Apple scale.
Responsibilities include:
* Manage, lead, mentor, and grow an organization of engineers and provide effective coaching to managers
* Define technical vision and strategy for large scale data platform experience. Design and drive a technical roadmap with focused execution
* Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional leaders in engineering, product, and operations across Apple to understand their requirements and drive adoption of our data platform with excellence in user experience
* Inspire teams to innovate, invent, and implement scalable solutions for complex data problems
* Provide guidance and establish processes to ensure engineering excellence and operational sustainability
* Foster a healthy, inclusive, collaborative, and technology-driven culture, and a high output team
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications- 15+ years of software development experience, with 10+ years managing engineering teams
- 8+ years of experience in user experience and UI engineering. Proficient in large scale web development, UI frameworks, UX design methodology, and user testing on data products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to collaborate cross-functionally with program managers and engineering partners
- Experience in influencing and driving key product innovations and opportunities across diverse stakeholders
- Passionate about operational excellence through proper automation and engineering processes
- Being methodical in ensuring web infrastructure is built in an optimized and sustainable manner
- Strong distributed systems and engineering background
- Superb problem-solving skills, and able to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- BS, MS, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

Pay & Benefits- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $219,300 and $378,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
