Remote Data Scientist (Project-Based with Potential for Equity)

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our team remotely. In this role, you will work on a project-by-project basis, helping us clean and refine our data, while improving and optimizing our recommendation algorithms. Your work will directly contribute to the success of our platform, and for long-term contributors, there is the possibility of earning stock in the company.
Key Responsibilities:
• Analyze, clean, and preprocess large-scale datasets from various sources, including review websites and college course catalogs.
• Improve and optimize our existing recommendation algorithms to ensure accurate and efficient course recommendations for students.
• Develop and implement machine learning models to enhance the precision and personalization of course recommendations.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers and other team members to ensure seamless data flow and integration across the platform.
• Use advanced statistical methods and predictive modeling techniques to generate actionable insights from the data.
• Monitor the performance of algorithms in production and iterate as needed to continuously improve outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Data Scientist, with a strong background in data cleaning, manipulation, and analysis.
• Expertise in machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data infrastructure and platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Experience with big data technologies such as Spark or Hadoop is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, with strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with a distributed team.
