Role Summary:
The
Computer Vision Engineer Co-Op will work alongside our existing engineering team to develop and enhance computer vision algorithms for digital pathology automation. This role is hands-on and interdisciplinary, focusing on the design, implementation, and testing of machine learning models and image processing workflows for medical imaging applications. The ideal candidate will be eager to apply their academic knowledge in a collaborative, innovative environment and motivated by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the healthcare space through advanced digital pathology solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and test computer vision algorithms for high-resolution pathology images
- Collaborate with team members to optimize machine learning models for diagnostic accuracy and efficiency
- Support image pre-processing, annotation, and data pipeline management
- Conduct performance analyses and document findings for continuous model improvements
- Participate in code reviews, contributing to best practices in coding and documentation
- Assist with data preparation, including labeling and organizing datasets for training and testing
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in Master’s or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
- Strong foundation in computer vision principles and machine learning techniques
- Proficiency in programming languages like Python, and experience with libraries such as OpenCV, TensorFlow, or Pytorch
- Knowledge of image processing techniques, feature extraction, and model validation
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment
- Previous experience or coursework in digital pathology, biomedical imaging, or medical diagnostics a plus
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (ex: AWS, Azure) and data processing pipelines
- Exposure to data annotation tools and experience with labeling large datasets a plus
