Description
As the Senior Manager, Data Science, Computer Vision, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering and technological operations related to computer vision data science, including digital biomarkers from Verily Numetric Retinal Camera and imaging data acquired via EHR feeds. You will lead a team of data scientists with expertise in computer vision, machine learning and generative artificial intelligence (AI) to design novel algorithms. Your role requires a strong combination of technical acumen, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the healthcare industry to build and mentor high-performing teams, foster a culture of innovation and collaboration, and align data initiatives with the organization's overall goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
Define and execute a comprehensive data science strategy for Verily’s computer vision and machine learning-based digital measures from signals collected by a retinal camera and EHR imaging data that is aligned with organizational objectives, ensuring it adapts to emerging industry trends, solving for both short and long term goals and industry positioning.
Oversee a portfolio of complex data science projects and programs and related data infrastructure and technical operations, defining scope, allocating resources, tracking progress, mitigating risks, and ensuring successful delivery within budget and timeline constraints.
Work closely with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, clinical science, quality and regulatory) to plan and execute clinical studies for analytical and clinical validation of digital measures, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results that meet the highest standards of quality, cost, safety, reliability, timeliness, and performance.
Utilize cutting-edge data science to analyze large, complex real-world datasets combining data from multiple sources (such as images, clinical and behavior data) and generate insights into disease progression and deliver the promise of precision health in clinical research and care delivery.
Effectively communicate complex technical findings and insights to stakeholders at all levels, translating them into actionable recommendations that drive business impact.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
MS degree in a quantitative discipline (statistics, computer science, biomedical engineering, or similar) with 8+ years of industry experience.
3+ years of supervisory experience managing data science or AI engineering teams.
Experience developing computer vision, signal processing and machine learning algorithms.
Familiarity with Python and SQL.
Experience with statistical data analysis and data visualization.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience analyzing and developing algorithms using physiological signals (such as photoplethysmography and accelerometer).
Familiarity with software engineering principles and experience deploying algorithms in production environments.
Experience analyzing and developing algorithms using retinal images.
Exposure to developing deep learning and generative AI based algorithms using TensorFlow or PyTorch, and knowledge of latest architectures.
PhD degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, computer science, biomedical engineering, or similar).
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000 - $235,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
