Velocity Tech has partnered with an innovative organization at the forefront of machine learning and data science to recruit for the role of Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer. This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and requires in-person attendance five days a week.
As a Machine Learning Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that the data delivered to customers is accurate, comprehensive, and actionable. The ideal candidate will have experience across classical machine learning techniques (e.g., logistic regression, random forest, XGBoost) as well as cutting-edge advancements in deep learning and large language models (LLMs). A passion for exploring the capabilities of LLM technology and evaluating their performance is essential, as is a drive to discover new datasets and hidden signals that provide valuable insights for customers.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the data infrastructure for extracting structured content from a large-scale document ingestion pipeline using LLMs and other technologies.
- Develop and maintain an evaluation framework to measure and identify errors within the data pipeline.
- Conduct experiments and implement innovative methods to enhance data retrieval and extraction performance.
- Train predictive models on structured data assets and identify new sources of valuable signals for customers.
- Collaborate directly with customers to understand their data requirements, articulate the technical approach, and address any concerns.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in industry.
- Proven expertise as a software engineer, with a focus on machine learning infrastructure or evaluation systems.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, particularly in building evaluation frameworks.
- Experience training and fine-tuning deep learning models or LLMs.
- Background in a high-growth startup environment.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in the life sciences, particularly in applying ML to problems in biology or biotechnology.
