About the Role
As an Audiovisual (AV) Deployment Engineer at OpenAI you will play a pivotal role in implementing and ensuring the availability, reliability, and exceptional ease-of use of our conference room audio visual and video conferencing infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expert-level experience in implementation of enterprise AV systems and moderate but demonstrable networking and general IT capabilities.
This is an onsite role and will require 5 days a week in our San Francisco office.
In this role, you will:
Manage the deployment of OpenAI’s standard audiovisual (AV) systems as part of global office construction projects
Assist ITAV Engineering with ongoing improvements to conference room audio visual and video conferencing (AV/VC) design and build standards
Oversee and deploy back-end systems related to ITAV and office builds (e.g., Google Calendar conference room resources, VC system administration, monitoring and alerting systems, digital signage)
Collaborate with the Network Team to deploy and maintain AV networks
Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for AV system troubleshooting and upkeep
Maintain lifecycle management for conference room AV/VC technology
Establish and update global AV break/fix service plans
Stay informed on the latest industry trends in AV/VC
Travel up to 30% of the time—including international travel—to assist with office construction and system deployments
You might thrive in this role if you have:
8+ years of experience in the design, installation, and troubleshooting of enterprise AV systems, including direct experience with Cisco, Logitech, and Neat video conferencing hardware
Proven expertise with major video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams)
Experience working with AV integration vendors and managing the bid/build process
Hands-on experience migrating VC software platforms
Familiarity with enterprise networking technologies and architectures
Experience with wayfinding and conference room booking hardware/software
Knowledge of AV over IP (QLAN, Dante, NDI)
Experience with the QSYS control ecosystem
Exposure to audio visual build standards and best practices
Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and maintaining support SLAs
Basic scripting skills (bash, Lua, Python, JavaScript)
