Key Responsibilities:
- Statistical Analysis of Genetic Data: Apply advanced statistical methods to analyze large-scale DNA datasets, identify genetic markers related to aging, and uncover patterns in gene expression that could lead to anti-aging breakthroughs.
- Model Development & Prediction: Develop predictive models to identify the genetic factors that influence aging processes. Use techniques such as regression analysis, survival analysis, and machine learning to inform potential therapeutic pathways.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and bioinformaticians to understand experimental designs, interpret biological data, and drive insights that will inform research on aging and longevity.
- Design & Conduct Statistical Testing: Design and implement rigorous statistical tests to validate hypotheses around aging and longevity, ensuring that our findings are robust, reproducible, and actionable.
- Data Integration & Visualization: Integrate genetic data with other types of biological data (e.g., epigenetics, lifestyle factors) to provide comprehensive insights into aging. Create clear, compelling visualizations to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical team members.
- Optimize Analysis Workflows: Develop efficient workflows for processing and analyzing large genomic datasets, ensuring that we can quickly generate actionable insights that support our product development.
- Contribute to Research & Publications: As a member of our startup team, you will contribute to research efforts and may have the opportunity to co-author scientific papers and publications on anti-aging and longevity.
- Continuous Learning & Innovation: Stay on top of the latest advances in statistics, genetics, and anti-aging research, ensuring that our methods and approaches are at the cutting edge.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 5+ Years of experience as a Data Scientist.
- Statistical Expertise: Strong background in statistical analysis, with experience in regression analysis, survival analysis, multivariate statistics, and hypothesis testing.
- Genomics & Bioinformatics Knowledge: Familiarity with genomic data, DNA sequencing, and bioinformatics tools is a plus. Understanding the unique challenges and opportunities in working with complex biological data is key.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, R, or MATLAB for data analysis, statistical modeling, and visualization. Experience with tools like NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, and ggplot2 is highly desirable.
- Machine Learning Experience: Exposure to machine learning techniques (e.g., random forests, support vector machines) for building predictive models is a plus, especially when applied to genomic or biological data.
- Data Integration & Visualization: Expertise in integrating large datasets from diverse biological sources and presenting findings through compelling visualizations using tools like Matplotlib, Seaborn, or Tableau.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex biological questions into actionable data-driven insights.
- Communication Skills: Ability to present complex statistical results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and understandable way.
- Collaborative Spirit: Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with researchers and scientists from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Skills:
- Domain Experience: Experience with genetics, epigenetics, or aging research is highly preferred. Previous work in biotech, pharmaceuticals, or healthcare is a plus.
- Advanced Degree: A Master's or PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, or a related field is highly preferred.
- Publications: Previous experience in publishing research or contributing to peer-reviewed journals is a plus, particularly in genetics or aging-related fields.
